Happy New Year! In order to prepare for a new year and decade, I took some well-deserved time off to spend time with my family and friends and I hope you did as well. During this time, I worked on my 2020 action plans. I’m not a fan of resolutions because those don’t really come with concrete plans to accomplish them. So instead, I have a tradition of creating action plans for both personal and professional goals. If you haven’t created yours yet, you can use my simple guide. If you have, perhaps you can adjust accordingly if you see my guide is helpful.
I create two plans called 2020 Personal Action Plan and 2020 Professional Action Plan. For each action plan, I do the following:
Create a list of 5-10 goals for each category (5 Personal Goals/5 Professional Goals)
For each goal, I list out what needs to be done on a daily, weekly and/or monthly basis for you to accomplish the goal
I then keep the action plans in a visible place as a constant reminder and reference
We naturally like to be ambitious when thinking about what we want to accomplish in a year and that is great. However, we all have plenty of other priorities, disruptions and unexpected events that can deter us from achieving our goals. This method allows me to break down each goal into achievable and realistic steps so that I can stay on track. It’s worked for me and I hope it works for you.
